Transfiguration Total Fulfillment in Christ

Transfiguration Total Fulfillment in Christ

The transfigurations on the Mount of Transfiguration was a face to face with the Living Word. Both the Law (in Moses) and the prophets (in Elijah) came together with their total fulfillment (Jesus). The transfiguration wasn’t a mere heavenly light show to impress the disciples; it was a moment in time that joined the Old with the New in the transfigured body of Christ. The disciples merely witnessed this tremendous happening. It was a heavenly gauntlet thrown down, ratifying and fulfilling all the past in Christ.

Total Fulfillment

Total Fulfillment
What an amazing seeing! I too would have erupted and blurted out like Peter, “Lord, it’s so wonderful that we are all here together! If You want, I’ll construct three shrines, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” (Matthew 17:4 TPT). Who wouldn’t?! This encounter revealed the glory of the Son Who is the answer and solution to all that was before and all that is promised for the future. Wow!

This divine merger is so powerful. A heavenly enfolding, woven together into a divine tapestry to be seen in a moment. It was the dance of the Word who is Christ. Christ is the Law because He is the Word. Jesus is the Prophets because He is the Promise.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 KJV

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1 NLT

In Christ

In Christ
Imagine this moment for Moses and Elijah. All they stood for, in anguish and struggle, was unified in this one moment with Christ. All their work was rewarded in Christ. No more struggling with rebellious Hebrews in the wilderness, no more Jezebel and her prophets seeking your blood. They both came face to face with the completion of their lives in Christ. He was what they couldn’t be. Such grace and love that they saw the end in His perfection!

One day we who follow the Lamb with come face to face with our fulfillment, too. All the life and energy, all the struggle and strain will be shown fulfilled in Jesus our heavenly Bridegroom. We will have a day of Reward. We’ll have the opportunity to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” as Jesus meets us in a similar fashion in the clouds. Our lives will end within His.

Above and Beyond

Beyond that glorious end, we each have something that neither Moses nor Elijah had in their lives. We can experience that fulfillment today. This side of the cross and with the Spirit of Christ, Jesus can fulfill our lives with Himself. He can satisfy all the requirements as we live in union with the Father through the Son. This is so much greater than merely witnessing as the disciples did on the Mount of Transfiguration; it is living illumined.

If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.
Luke 11:36 NASB

The Bible says that I am to be a body wholly illuminated. Is this on special occasions, like a Christmas tree? No, this can and should be how I live every day. Our actual, intended reality is that Christ’s Life within us is the glory which makes our countenances shine like a glowworm.

Before the Cross…the splendor of His Joy released! “It was the dance of the Word who is Christ.” Beautifully given, John. Oh, what this takes in…”it is living illumined”. HIS Living Light, glowing in us, no matter what surrounds, affecting all around whether we’re aware or not. Christ, delighting in all the Father had purposed & Given…”fulfilled in Jesus”; Father delighting in His Son; & we invited in. Did He know all the Father had planned on the Mount? He brought His disciples. And did He dance for Joy over Himself IN us…free as the wind? Union, now & forever…”our lives will end within His”.
