Tell Him You Love Him

Sitting with God

We were meeting the other night, and Jennifer and Carole each made comments about something they were reading. I believe I practice what each of them said in some fashion, but somehow hearing it from them validated my doing it. Therefore, I thought I would share these practices with you because I find them so beneficial.

First, Carole said that when you wake up and sit down with God, tell Him you love Him. It doesn’t matter if it’s even how you feel in the moment. Maybe you’re going through a crisis, and in actuality, you are more angry or sad than loving. That doesn’t matter. Make the confession with your mouth. It’s so powerful to confess with your mouth the intentions of your heart. “I love You, God! I love You because You are my God and my choice is to love You above all others!” It doesn’t matter if the reality isn’t seen in your current living expression, because our realities are timeless. My choice is to love God with all my heart. That’s the direction in which I aim my heart, and I confess that with my mouth regardless of circumstance.

Funny thing, I’ve been doing this for years and didn’t realize the power. What I did know was that in my confession was the power to perform, because God assures my choice with His power to perform. And amazingly, He wills it, too. I love Him because He first loved me, and He is the power to will and to do of His good pleasure.

All I knew was I loved Him and wanted Him to hear it. So whether I was sad, happy, angry, fearful, or whatever the emotion de jour, I spoke it to Him. Now I know that I was aiming my heart like an arrow towards the Most High, and He makes sure it hits the target!

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:10 ESV

I have been fashioned in the image of my Creator and my words, like His, have power to accomplish.

So My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.
Isaiah 55:11 HCSB

Wednesday I’ll continue with what Jennifer said.
