Proclamation Prayer

Proclamation Prayer

Is Satan using Google in an attempt to shut us up? Is there a conspiracy to silence to our prayers? If God created the universe by speaking it into existence, do our prayers have to be spoken in order for them to work? If I just think my prayers, is my prayer life sufficient? What is proclamation prayer anyway? Come read this post to hear.

Currently on the Shulamite Podcast, we’re doing a series of episodes on proclamation prayer. The meeting was originally recorded in Kansas City when Martha met with a group of believers to speak about experiencing the depths of the Lord’s Prayer. These podcasts are of the meeting after the meeting and they’re great. So many wonderful thoughts were expressed, and I hope you will go enjoy them.

Visualizing of Proclamation Prayer

Visualizing of Proclamation Prayer
As you may know, I bring the visual elements to all of our sites. And in our podcasts, I attempt to visually represent with images our thoughts and topics. A tricky task indeed! But while I was searching for images to represent proclamation prayer, I took notice of something that I want to share with you.

If you do an image search for any word or phrase in Google, you are likely to get a composite of how the masses view the subject. Do you remember my post on what God looks like? I went about looking for visual representations of God to illustrate it. I came up with everything from insipid to demonic. I’d say very few images actually represented my vision of God.

Well, in doing the podcasts on proclamation prayer, I went out looking for images to represent that topic. What I found was very interesting. All the pictures representing prayer were of silent prayers. Not one of the images had the praying person speaking. Truly, if there is power in my spoken prayer, these images don’t promote it. This is admittedly a mixed bag, because I often think we speak too much in prayer and listen too little. But are all my prayers supposed to be conducted in silence? I think not!

Proclamation Prayer: Speaking God’s Will

Proclamation Prayer: Speaking God's Will
I believe some of my prayers are literally to be the speaking forth of the Will of God as I enter into agreement with Him. Derek Prince calls these proclamation prayers. The absence of a visual expression of vocal prayer is a bit suspicious, especially if it carries such dynamic power. Some things are more effectively communicated with the power of insinuation. If you told me to outright shut up and keep my prayer life to myself, I might rise up in objection. But if every time prayer was referenced, I was shown the prayer contained rather than proclaiming, I’d probably find that easier to swallow. And if it made me look godly and humble… I’d gobble it up, like fattening up a turkey. Media is a powerful tool.

On to the Google conspiracy. I actually don’t think that it’s about Google at all. I do believe that Satan desires to silence the creative force of my prayer life. We dove into this topic in the podcast. We talk about how our words can affect our lives and the lives of those around us. But while I was looking for these pictures to accompany our podcast, I noticed bowed heads, folded hands, and closed eyes. This is how the masses view prayer, but prayer is so much more. Once I hear the Will of the Father, I can literally proclaim it to see it done. I believe there is a creative force that is carried forth by my audible words of prayer.

This is proclamation prayer!

This is proclamation prayer!
Proclamation prayer is the verbal expression of the Will of God. Whether it is rhema or scripture, it is a vocal agreement with His own Will. Imagine, I am able to enter into God’s creative work of bringing what is in heaven down onto earth. This is proclamation prayer! You’re not speaking your will or wishes but the Will of our Heavenly Father. Do you see why it would be so obscured?

I whole-heartedly believe in the merit of my silence to listen. I also believe that there are times for silent prayer. But imagine the ability to enter into the fellowship with my heavenly Father to establish things in His creation. Yes, to see the creative miracle of speaking forth on earth that which is His Will in Heaven. No wonder the devil wishes to keep me silent.

And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Mark 11:22-24 ESV

Consider also: Faith arises when we hear with our ears what God has already spoken to our Spirit. This is the agreement of the Father and the Son. “When two or more agree, as touching anything…”
“FROM the Father – THROUGH the Son – BY the Holy Spirit.”

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”
      ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Part of our Sunday school lesson this week is from I Peter 2:9. “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people THAT you may PROCLAIM the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
