Not Liking The Will of God

Have you ever cried because of the Will of God? Has His choices in your life caused you grief and tested your faith? I can currently name a few scenarios in my life that would fall in line with this. So how am I to respond when I don’t like the Will of God?

If I have learned anything during my journey with the Lord, “to understand or not understand” is not the question. The only question is, will I follow The Answer to my Solution. In reality blind faith is needed to walk with a God whose ways are higher than mine. I have to lean on, trust in, and rely on Him and His character not my understanding.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-7 AMPC

Logic and the Will of God

Logic and the Will of God
Logic will always kill my walk of faith. Logic consults my limited understanding, whereas faith is total reliance on Jesus. Filling my mind with facts and figures will only thwart my ability to dance in faith. Yes, dance! The life of faith is a dance where Jesus leads our every step. It is a dance because our walk with Him is a romance, a Beloved and His Bride. Faith abandons our heart in trust that He is trustworthy.

I wonder if all our difficulties arise simply to set the stage so we have an opportunity to experience a mighty God?! In my experience it comes at the hands of our desperate need and hunger for Him, but the end result is faith and fulfillment. These are not just puffed up words and fanciful language, it is the Life of Faith.

So again, are the circumstances we find ourselves in set in place to expand and explode our life and faith? I believe so. Not that they will not also include difficulties and suffering, but if we will look to Him, they will draw us closer to the Goal of all Life—relationship with Jesus.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9 AMPC

Logic does not kill one’s walk, as long as faith is continually allowed to take the lead.

This is especially true when faced with apparent contradictions. When we defer to His understanding, the contradictions are almost always resolved. We discover that the contradictions were rooted in our understanding and perceptions of His ways. The facts and figures align when we are willing to let go of what we think we know from these facts and figures. Wrestling through these in faith is the path of loving our Lord with all of our mind in addition to our heart and soul.

To put it more bluntly, many Christians are experiencing cognitive dissonance because of the multitude of false perceptions they included in their walk. A renewal of mind includes discarding the idols of country, ideology, and politics, while not picking up the opposite views of those considered enemies. Progress is when you realize that “those” people are not truly your enemy (Eph 6:12), and that our role is to love them all the same.

      • Thank you Don for your comment. The “logic” I am speaking of here is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit, not the Wisdom that comes from God. 😉

“Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].”

Beautiful & frightening & inviting…GOD. An ice storm brought..’that certain stillness’..that face to Face..before the Breath..& the dance began. Ice encased trees & branches fallen everywhere. HE can stop the whirl any way HE wants to. Brought to reality, recognition, relationship in an ice storm. Family, friends, neighbor, came out the door..no masks, no busyness, no lazy indifference, no other considerations, no power grid a few days. They ‘each-othered’ one another in need. Love..Will..break free! Faith Lives the moment, it doesn’t run ahead with ‘words’ trying to ‘be there’, have this ‘over with’…before HE–IS. Intimacies of what is Real, are never told, they are Lived. Only then is HE seen. Be still, listen to the Song He sings, as He holds us to & IN His movement. This is the position He wants us in. Held..in Love..face to Face..& then He moves, & i with Him, & we together dance in faith. He’s in no hurry to fill the stillness..just before the Breath… “Linger awhile”… HE fills it with Himself. Isn’t He amazing?!

I became a Christian through my reasoning (with the guidance of the Spirit) and through my reasoning I developed my faith. Though this reasoning process I came to the conclusion that the Word of God is absolutely correct and is inerrant. It is this God given ability to come to a rational conclusion and each time I study the Word of God my faith increases. Each time I pray fervently my faith increases. The centurion that came to Christ to ask Christ to heal his servant explained why Christ didn’t need to come to his house to do the healing through reasoning, and Christ declared this to be the greatest faith in all of Judea. So, it isn’t just reason or faith but a matter of obedience to God’s will using faith and reasoning. I don’t believe every “bad” situation I have been in is God’s will but I do believe how I handle the unpleasant events should be in God’s will.

      Isaiah 1:18-20 NKJV
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. [19] If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; [20] But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken
