…to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.
Acts 26:18 NASB
Part of my zeal in denouncing strange fire comes from painful experience. Strange fire is the siren’s song, promising everything and delivering nothing but death. But most of my passion comes from the sheer audacity of Satan’s lies about the Light. He calls darkness, light and the Light, darkness. And we listen to him and believe because we want to, and maybe because the Light threatens all we hold dear.
From Martha’s newly posted article series on the power and mystery of the Light (Heaven’s Rule):
“For all its healing, comforting nature, Light is offensive to the nature of humanity. Our infatuation is with darkness and its tortured shadows are our fascination. Simply put, we “love” darkness.
When light comes, as it does to everyone, the choice is made, but the consequence is chosen as well. LIGHT evokes a response, demands an answer. And we do answer Light. Even our answer to Light is the exposure of light’s penetration, revealing the heart’s favorite lover.
You are drawn and mesmerized, or repelled and repulsed, by Him Who is Light…depending on what you secretly love. Light uncovers, but it heals what it uncovers. Sterilizes what is infectious and gives Life…again.”
I always thought that the power of Light was going to kill me, kill the very essence of my heart and being, but instead it burned off the darkness that was eating me and left explosive Life everywhere it shone. Light exposed my strange fire for the darkness that it was.
The Lord never exposed me for the purpose of condemnation. As Martha wrote, “Light uncovers, but it heals what it uncovers.” The wrath of God came to open my eyes all the way, SO THAT I would “turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God.”
The Light didn’t lead to shame. Light ended my shame.
The Light didn’t lock me up. Light freed me.
The Light didn’t isolate me. Light brought me out of hiding.
The Light didn’t hurt my heart. Light healed it.
But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.

Thank you, Jen. You are precious in His sight
I crossed today with this:
“The light of God will really show you what you are really like, and will also heal you of your sins. Until you see yourself in God’s pure light, you really don’t know yourself.”
