In my last post, I described the fellowship of the Godhead seen in the Body of Christ. I understood (if understanding is even possible) that the union of the Trinity dwells in His earthen vessels to express the Son’s love for the Father and the Father’s love for the Son. Amazingly, this brings forth the Kingdom on earth and is true Church! It’s a Holy reality and a complete mystery, which I’m so excited to be lost in.
While seeing the role of the Father and the Son, I was wondering to God about how the Spirit functioned in John 17:21. If it’s the Godhead, then that’s Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Well, ask and you shall receive. After reading my post, Martha called me and gave me the answer. She gave me the following scripture:
For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!
Romans 8:15 AMP
WOW! It’s the Spirit who cries, “Abba, Father” in us. He is the Spirit of adoption as well as my cry to be a son! It is the Spirit who cries out to be a son (more on this later). Martha then proceeded: The Father began and created it, the Son finished it and the Spirit makes it real in and to us. Again I say, WOW! Not only is this Church, but it’s also sonship.
Remember me saying that the worship isn’t for me nor is it about me, but it completely included me? And this is how I’m included: I am made a son in His Sonship. The Spirit of adoption produces His sonship in my frame.
And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father!
I am SO excited to dive into this subject matter for the blog. Sonship is a reality that the Father has been birthing in me for years. I’ve wanted to write about what “Not I but Christ” means for weeks now, and I’ve been excitedly waiting for the Spirit to reveal to me great and mighty things I know not. As I’ve said before, what started out as a reiteration and expansion of my testimony, as given at the Love Reigns conference, has moved forward like a meandering brook. I’ve gazed at the Father to write my His-story through me, and in doing so, I’ve been very surprised by what He’s brought forth. But I’m elated because He’s now expressing something that is my passion to live. Not only is He giving my backstory, He’s also expressing why my path took the turns it did.
