What is choice really? God gave free choice in Eden and that was a costly commitment to the ultimate Love: giving someone the absolute freedom to receive or reject God Himself.
A Choice We All Make
So what is the real choice? What are our daily and permanent choices? Between God and Satan? Between Love and hate? I have seen it is the most hidden choice, one rarely named at its primal core.
I heard it from the Spirit in the form of a question to someone, really to us all.
Which do you want: Control or God?
You want both so you have the confusion of possessing neither. You don’t have God when you are obsessed with controlling life and people and…your Self.
Another way to put it: “Do you want to be god or do you want God Himself?” Every person answers this question, whether we know the bottom line or not!
I ran across some tapes on Surrender recently. Seems that lately I have been giving surrender as the prescription for spiritual victory, personal peace and ultimate success. Surrender is an open door to God, and heaven.
But surrender needs to be defined. If not, the issue has a sliding option.
“I can say it (but secretly not remotely mean it).”
“I can call it surrender when really I just go to sleep with passivity about it all.”
Surrender is giving up control. It’s letting it all just be without resistance to circumstance or people. That is a sweating work. But it’s not giving UP, it’s giving OVER. Surrender is letting God be God.
God Receives Our Choice
We can affect God? Yes, we can say NO to God while ‘yeses’ flow out of our mouths. But we don’t bank on this: God goes on without you. As you chose. Your unconscious NO to God affects you terribly, eternally. But God is unstoppable in His plan. So if your yes is merely weak, then God in His mercy will surround and hound you until your yes is…to the death for HIM.
“When you surrender to Christ, you surrender to the most creative and dynamic Person on this or any other planet. You begin to be alive with His life, enlightened with His light, loving with His love. You have surrendered to creativity. Therefore His yoke is easy, for you are made by the Creator for creation.”
