Impudent Faith and a Glitchy CD

Impudent Faith and a Glitchy CD

Here is my own little story of impudent faith featuring a glitchy CD. It’s not particularly profound, but it is profoundly mine. This is an excellent example of how a disciple meets Jesus, as Lord, in the small things.

Yesterday was a very busy day in the office that threatened to come undone within the first hour. I was trying to assemble much-needed copies of audio series and found myself unable to get past copying the first of six discs. After three failed attempts, I did a manual check of the master disc and discovered that it was slightly damaged — that’s why I couldn’t make copies. Since the master disc was damaged, I was in a pickle.

We do have other back-ups in case a master is damaged, but they’re very time-consuming measures. Time that I didn’t have. And as I watched my morning slipping away, I got hot about it. This simply would not do!

I set up the burner for a fourth attempt, only this time I prayed. And it was an impudent prayer! Intensely, I reminded Jesus that He was Lord over this ministry, the office, and my responsibilities. I told Him that I was where He’d placed me, doing what He’d asked me to do. Then I said, “This is YOUR problem! And You’re GOD, so this cannot be a problem for You! You parted the Red Sea! What’s a glitchy CD compared to that? This is Your message and it needs to go out. Please take care of this!” Two minutes later, a glitchy CD produced perfect copies.

Faith Overcame the Glitchy CD

Faith Overcame the Glitchy CD
When those CDs slid out of the burner, I burst into tears. He heard me! He answered me! My small, mundane task mattered to Him, or rather, I mattered to Him. Jesus Christ manifested in power to take care of my glitchy CD, and I cried off and on all day over it. I’m not sure I can put into words how loved I felt, how cherished I was by Him. May I never get over it.

And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.
Matthew 21:22 AMP

It wasn’t my faith that rose in response to the glitchy CD problem; it was the faith of Jesus Himself. The heat that I felt was His own zeal, and when I realized that, I saw something else, too. “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much” (Luke 16:10 NKJV). Every time I experience Jesus’ own faithfulness in the small things of my life, my trust in His faithfulness for the big things deepens. If it pleased the Creator of All to solve my little problem, how can I doubt His surety when a great deal more is on the line?!

Yesterday I basked in the warmth and bliss of my Savior’s love for me. It filled me so completely that all I could do was love Him back with it. I thank God for that glitchy CD! May my life be filled with glitchy CDs, so that I can experience daily the wonder and awe of His presence and love so completely as I did here.

Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

Thanks for this wonderful reminder, Jennifer, that Abba is concerned about those things that bring care and anxiety into our lives and we can cast those cares on Him!
