How to Get Rich in the Kingdom

US dollars money

I want to give you a secret to becoming rich in the Kingdom of God.  Yep, how to get rich. Not rolling around on $100 bills in your pajamas rich, but true wealth. Riches paying dividends that increase in yield regardless of economies or trends.

My child, listen when your father corrects you.
Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
What you learn from them will crown you with grace
and be a chain of honor around your neck.
Proverb 1:8-9

WOW, a crowning of grace and a necklace of honor.  Sounds like rewards to me.  But what if the instruction of our parents was godless or abusive?  How do I process the negative lessons into a Godly provision?

Here is the key to opening the door to this asset: nothing in my life can be sorted out through my sensibilities of right and wrong. I am a child of God and ALWAYS have to ask the Father what things mean. Though I usually need to be reminded in the moment, this is an ALWAYS. The face value of any circumstance is usually a mere delivery system, while the true definition is held in the mind of God.

This is a furtherance of the lesson of “listening to the messenger and missing the message.”  I can’t get away from these words.  I can’t tell you how many wounds I bear simply from not asking the Father to interpret a situation.  And the main problem with this is that not only do I leave injured, I also lose the privilege of benefiting from the circumstance.  God gives us all conditions where we can choose to drill down and glean from Him, or turn aside in hurt.

Many times in my walk, things were done to me that caused me to stop and say, “What are YOU saying in this?” And when I asked this, the poison stinger was removed and I was given a treasure.  I didn’t judge it by sense and reason but listened to the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:6 AMP).  Again, the results were wisdom and spiritual fruit. And the good news is even if I fail to do this in the moment, God can redeem the situation.  Let me give you a parental for instance.

I stated previously that my expectations of my father were not met. On this side of my salvation journey, I have said, “What were YOU saying?” One of the answers from the Lord is, “I AM Jealous!”  God was jealous for what?  For my affections and attention.

God has continually blocked my fleshly attempts to get love from sources outside of Him.  I have run at this wall like a bull elephant.  Slam, slam, slam!  I wanted what I wanted, but God will have what He will have.  He is stronger and more patient than I.  So what I initially saw as neglect and rejection by my father translated in God’s mind as HIS desire and affection for me.  Talk about a mind bender.  This is why, as God’s child, I ALWAYS have to go to Him for the answer of what is happening.  Man is too fickle, our frame is too delicate and our world too topsy-turvy to trust our limited understanding as reliable.

At the end of the day, our Creator will have to let us know: what He created, why He created it and what its purpose is. When I am open to listen to His take on things, then my exhausting energy flow of trying to figure it out, fix it, or make it right as I see fit will end. The End!

“Many times in my walk, things were done to me that caused me to stop and say, “What are YOU saying in this?” And when I asked this, the poison stinger was removed and I was given a treasure.”

Yes. So true that only His Mind can make my loony mind go right.

      • Barb

I like what you say about only “His mind can make my loony mind go straight”.

      • Tina

Haha Sam. I am beginning to realize that my only freedom from my “loony mind” is to get out of it!

        • Sam

(Missing a verb) *that pretended to USE His gift*

        • Sam

Ah Tina… He said that my “mind” (which is part of me) He made it, He created and shaped and formed it… into His image. Then I know the problem is not my mind (per se), but the lunatic (willful of me) that pretended to His gift to me in order to live completely outside and independent of His Right-Rightful Mind while at the same time deluding myself I am keeping any perspective of sanity at all. No wonder when I live like that I enter all kind of weird distortions (lies) about the Right Mind.

It is totally crazy to pretend to be in my sound mind without holding and contemplating the Mind that shaped it. It is nuts, like going windward under full sail. You will get nowhere. It is just amazing how stuck you get by doing that.

To God I am sure we look like fools (plain idiots) when we act like that. I mean, pretending to get a sane wise mind without withholding, embrazing, contemplating and ultimately, EATING (making it yours, renewing your whole being in it), the Mind of Wisdom, which is the Mind of Christ.

Thankfully we have Christ, and what an Amazing Mind that is!!!

          • Tina

I pray we all can live in and surrender to “the mind of Christ” more and more.

“…The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” I Cor. 2:10b-16.

I recently took some yard tools to clear out a patch of brush and vines from my yard. I pushed my way in past the brush to find the roots which I either sawed or cut with a Lopper. I just focused on cutting all the roots I could find. The branches and stems were so tangled that I just decided to leave them until I could get some help from my son. Later on in the day the Spirit spoke to me about “His cutting the roots so that the vines would die and then they can be more easily untangled”. It would have been near impossible for me to untangle all of that mess and it would have taken me a LONG time. Dealing with the entangled vines and branches just stirs up confusion, and despair the harder I pull the more trapped in them I become. The Spirit goes right to the root, puts an ax to it and the rest dies.
So, when I find myself entangled in fear, confusion, conflict etc. I need to ask Him to cut the root at the core. He is good like that you know~

            • Irene Respess

What an amazing analogy of the tangled mess of the vines. Don’t try to untangle just go for the root! Wow!

            • Sam

Yes, I know what you mean. I completely agree.

It seems whether we like it or not, the “old mind” is our battleground. Well, at least it is mine. You and anyone that proclaims Christ has fought greatly with the “old ways” that seem lurking behind, like trying to get the upper hand by the minute.

Paul talked of that using several terms like “old man”, “body of death”, etc. He talked about it in terms of “completely corrupted”, “not willing”, “cannot understand”, etc… He even said (though not explained it fully, so I am guessing here), that God would let some “weakness” that had to do with that “old man” in order for His strength to reach a “full operation” in him (being actual and real in his life.) For Paul the “old” became God’s instrument. Talk about having vision!

Brother Nee said (you probably have read him) that those were two powers working, and you could not “defeat” the “old one.” He said they were like “laws” operating, antagonist and separated in nature and purpose. He tried to share I cannot defeat a law (like gravity, for instance) by “opposing” it.

I don’t think this makes the old “vanish” (Paul claimed “I AM wretched!”), but for SURE He called us to live in the New! A recent prayer of the Spirit delivered through Martha (published here in this blog), was an agonizing cry to LIVE in the New, not being entangled with the old.

I believe the many operations He does (“cutting the root at the core” as you so wisely say) is in order for us to more easily reach for the New and take it in. All this cutting from the root is for us to live where we should live in order to LIVE… the Kingdom of the Son!!

I bless the Lord for this little conversation!!
              (Going to bed now)

Yes, Sam I appreciate you and your sharing. I enjoying the sharping and joy that comes from connection and sharing.
      Take care.

      • Sam

As you said, these Operations He takes with ax in His hand, aiming the root, untangling the mess, clearing the way. Truly the God you speak of is the God that I so desperately need.

        I Love your radical vision.
