Fond of Blood

Jesus on the Cross

Martha has recounted many times the day she told God of her desire to run into His throne room and love Him – and surprising was His response. He told her firmly, “You can come in boldly if everything is covered completely with the Blood.” The essence of what I gathered from that is that our desire isn’t what gives us entrance. Access to the Father is only granted through the Blood of His Son.

We serve a God who’s fond of Blood. And though it may offend our modern sensibilities, it’s still the reality. As I’ve stated in my past posts, I looked for God and begged for intimacy with Him but He resisted me. God resisted the desire of my worshiping heart because I didn’t worship in His prescribed way. In that sense, I came in like a Cain. I was looking to bring Him my offering of desire and have Him accept it, but there is only one Offering He will accept, and that is Blood.

When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, but He did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.
Genesis 4:3-5 NLT

So now when I say, “Lord, kiss me with the kisses of Your mouth,” I know it’s only as I am washed whiter than snow through having my heart and deeds covered in His Blood. I am a pure Bride for the Lamb through the Lamb’s own Blood. He made entrance for my acceptance with His sacrifice.  I take on His holiness as He washes away my sinfulness, and then I have the boldness to enter in.

Once I used the Blood as a magic word to ward off ills. “Out damned spot, out,” as Shakespeare states in Macbeth. But now I live in faith not just words. Words are a dime a dozen, but through faith in His Blood and in its power, I enter in. Faith is the only thing that pleases our God. And by that faith in Him and the Life that flows in His Blood, I have right of access to boldly come and be intimate with the Creator of the Universe.

This is bowing to Jesus…this is recognizing Him and His rightful place – it gives us no room!

John, you have set my heart to singing those old hymns about The Blood, especially “Power In The Blood”! “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’ (‭Leviticus‬ ‭17‬:‭11‬ NASB)

And it is the Holy Spirit that has enlightened me which gives birth to faith over n over, so you see He even gives me His faith, trying to conjure faith on my own is to abstract and it will fade, so Christ does it all!! It’s so simple but our flesh is so hard!!

The Blood of the very Lamb of God, what a precious blood shed for many. May He found us bowed to this treasure, as to a love affair, as Abel. Not stiff-necked, as did Cain, who did not accept the blood, and became a murderer as we all have been since.

This Blood is beyond all beyonds, and I adore You for it, oh YOU Lamb of God.

      Precious blood.

Bless you, John! I’ve taken the Blood of Jesus too lightly; it’s everything . . . it’s our very identity.
