Perspective: Viewpoint, standpoint, outlook, view, perception, side, angle, take, evaluation, assessment; a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something.
It seems I am seeing most everything in the light of that word lately – perspective. We have been traveling through some unchartered, rough waters lately. Circumstances are changing rapidly, calling for fresh surrender, prayers, revelation and wisdom. And it’s not just the circumstances that are quickly changing, it is the atmosphere—the emotional and spiritual state of being as well as the physical, touchable realm.
Stuck in My Own Perspective
Too often I assess things according to what I see right in front of me in this physical world. I react in light of that and find myself bound by what seems to be real. I am caught in my own viewpoint, my own narrow perspective, and it is inevitably a dark place, a place of unbelief and defeat. And the boundaries of my evaluation seal the door of my self-inflicted prison from the inside and lock God’s purpose and power out. But because He is my Shepherd and I His ever forgetful and wandering sheep, He breaks in with His Word. Through a thought, a person or even a blog (!), God draws me back into His reality, His perspective, and the triumph of His Life and Kingdom. He illuminates the darkness with His view and will, and I am changed.
2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Changed by Perspective
Many times when I read this blog, I so identify with John and Jennifer and Martha’s journeys, and I am changed. In a moment, I am changed. My circumstances don’t change, but my view does – how and what I see. Simply put, my perspective is changed. The Holy Spirit turns on the light and I see through His eyes. I see how He regards a situation – His perspective. It’s just like when Elisha’s servant, who was paralyzed with fear, cried out. “Elisha prayed and his eyes were opened to see the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” Now, that’s Reality! “To believe the impossible one must first see the invisible” (from Kingdom Dynamics, Spirit Filled Bible, 2 Kings 6:8-17 NKJV). He saw through God’s perspective, God’s eyes. Amazing! I am lifted out of this earthly realm into the invisible, heavenly realm, into the realm of Reality.
And always, always when His perspective captures me, repentance follows and worship rises. His faith ensues. His exquisite, triumphant viewpoint decimates my pitiful fleshly view. “He always leads in triumph.” His perspective takes me from that awful, hopeless despair to hope, from my fretting and fear to His promise and faith and even rest. In truth, He delivers me once again from death to Life! Perspective, from Whose point of view I see, is everything.
Ephesians 3:20-21 AMPC
Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]—To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).
“To believe the impossible one must first see the invisible. . .” That is an amazingly simple statement, Carole, and I’m definitely in need of His resurrection power for this. Against God’s Word, His promises, my children’s salvation seems an impossibility. So now, being caught (and thank you!)repentance needs to follow, as you stated, so that worship can rise with His faith imparted. “With God, all things are possible.” So easy to spout; living this belief is another thing. Bless you, Carole!

Thank you, Carole…this Word was such an encouragement to my heart today! When you’re in the throes of warfare, the challenge is to see the invisible, which is the greater reality! Bless you for sharing so beautifully.
Let me know how you like the email notifications. Thank you for requesting it Paul, I hope you like how it functions. If not let me know, I will work on it further if it is not up to snuff.
Excellent word Carol. Perspective is not only where you’re looking from, but also where you’re looking to. If being a Christian is where I am looking from, then the question remains; where, or who, am I looking to… Is it me, and MY Christian training and what I know, or am I looking at Jesus who is my righteousness and understanding?
oh Carole, how many times my “perspective” is askew let me count the ways, NO I won’t, but thank you Bless her LORD for another thread in this tapestry that you all are weaving from the Father. Thank you all for your comments, they bless me too!!!!
This is beauty for ashes; with great wisdom you recognize the truth and pour it out on us.
Thank you!
Amen.
“a particular attitude toward or away of regarding
something” . This definition of perspective really jolted me. I realized that I too often find myself living in my circumstances instead of living in Christ. “Christ in me the hope of Glory “.Thank you Carole and all of you at Shulamite Ministries for reminding me ” Prespective is Everything “
Hmmmmh…it seems as though I regularly step forward…into my perspective, when instead maybe I should pause, and step back…into His
Thank you Carole
So often as I come and go I hear the thoughts and worries of others particularly concerning the ‘perceived’ state of this world. And I silently pray. Every once in a while I catch myself doing the same – then He reminds me, just as you have – I am “not of this world.” I repent, seek His perspective, and in that there can be nothing but peace. When it’s His Reality, His Truth, I am no longer inprisioned by “the boundaries of my evaluation…” but free to rest in Him. It’s this peaceful rest that I so long to… Read more »
Bless you Tammy. Thank you.
Carole today spoke of such an important thing: vision. You really perish without it. That’s why He always said… “those who have ears to hear”. And I hear when I yearn more for His voice that for my perspective.
Being loved of God and receiving this love takes a change of perspective: NOW I use my eyes to see and wonder. I see God.
Love!
Bless you Tammy and Sam, your daily comments always bless me as much as the blog! Thank you for your passionate hearts after God!
