His Desires in a Man of God

Print

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalm 37:4 HCSB

The one in God is given the desires of God’s heart. Yes, the Lord implants His own desires in us and then He leads us to fulfill those desires for Him through us. This is simply amazing. I always thought that the Lord gives me the desires of my heart when I am His. The part I was missing in this equation is that He first gives me those desires to be fulfilled. They’re His very own desires to be lived out through me. Wow!

So, it’s not that He gives us the desires of our hearts; He literally gives us His desires and then He lives those desires out in our life as our life. He fulfills His own desires through us.

This is all predicated on love. Love is our connection to life. In fact, if we don’t have love, we don’t have anything. And it is His delight to fulfill His desires in His beloved children. And this is exactly where I want to live: in His fulfilled desires.

His Desires and My Desires

His Desires and My Desires
I have had many desires in my life—yearned for, begged for, and passionately-pursued desires. But there is a big difference between my pursuits and His pursuit of His desires in me. I believe the biggest difference is eternity. My good ideas bear human (wood, hay, and stubble) fruit. His purpose brings in His kingdom and reaps heavenly rewards.

I love that He is in His desires and His desired Life in me is eternal.

But as it is written: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV

“Lord, I want You to have YOUR heart’s desire!”

“When you long for Him to have His desires,
more than you want your own desires,
then your want melds with His purpose and
He opens His Vast Ideas to you and
invites you to join His manifestation of them.”

From Martha’s booklet, “The Secret to Answered Prayer” p. 20
