God is Speaking – Communicating with US

Print

Every moment of our lives is a moment with God. Literally, every single moment we live. And in these moments, our God is speaking. The question is: What is He saying? We just can’t assume we know by our limited understanding. And even when we clearly hear His voice, we have to ask God what He means by what He says. Amazingly, we have a speaking God who loves to communicate with us, His children.  And His desire is that we know exactly what He is saying.

God is Speaking Everywhere

God is Speaking Everywhere
His voice comes in many ways. Yes, He’s heard through His still small voice, but also through individual circumstances.  If we relegate our hearing of Him to only what we know as His voice, we will miss a lot of His communication. Often He will use situations to convey His messages, but if we’re deaf to this chosen method of communication, we will miss some of His amazing speaking.

As we live life, we are ever presented with new challenges and conditions. In all of our experiences, we have to inquire of Him, “What is it You want to say here?” Imagine God is speaking and wants to commune with you in your every moment.  Until recently I didn’t realize how important this was to God.  I thought just the big events in life were used to deliver messages, but it’s in everything!  Anytime I’m willing to listen to God, He wants to communicate. I wonder how many of my dramatic events could have been avoided with an ever-surrendered ear to listen. This doesn’t discourage me – quite the opposite, it excites me. I’m encouraged to yield to my moments and inquire of my God, “What are You saying now?

God is Speaking to ME!

God is Speaking to ME!
The longer I live with God, the more I see He’s so different than I ever expect Him to be. Imagine the patience and humility in waiting for Your creation to recognize that You desire to speak to them. He’s God! I should be in line all the time for Him to speak, but instead He often waits in line behind all the other voices and interests that take precedent.

So now I’m going to receive the grace He gives to me but also choose to be more attentive. I purpose to inquire of Him among all my happenings, perhaps in this they may be transformed from mundane to miraculous.

For God is speaking again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride. He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death. “Or God disciplines people with pain on their sickbeds, with ceaseless aching in their bones. They lose their appetite for even the most delicious food. Their flesh wastes away, and their bones stick out. They are at death’s door; the angels of death wait for them. “But if an angel from heaven appears— a special messenger to intercede for a person and declare that he is upright— he will be gracious and say, ‘Rescue him from the grave, for I have found a ransom for his life.’ Then his body will become as healthy as a child’s, firm and youthful again. When he prays to God, he will be accepted. And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing. He will declare to his friends, ‘I sinned and twisted the truth, but it was not worth it. God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’ “Yes, God does these things again and again for people. He rescues them from the grave so they may enjoy the light of life. Mark this well, Job. Listen to me, for I have more to say. But if you have anything to say, go ahead. Speak, for I am anxious to see you justified. But if not, then listen to me. Keep silent and I will teach you wisdom!”
Job 33:14-33 NLT

Thank you John. Our God IS a speaking God! But for some reason it feels like it’s so hard to hear Him, to be sure you heard Him and really know what He was trying to say… But perhaps listening to God is not like how we listen to other humans – just with our ears. It seems to me to be more like watching, sensing and feeling… It’s surely way more artistic than just using ears! I also think it has a lot to do with the letting that Martha has been writing about… Letting Him communicate with me.… Read more »
