Can Elections Be Stolen?

I originally posted this post on November 16th 2020. I think it has enough merit to be reposted again today. In the light of everything that has happened since then, I think the question, Can elections be stolen? is perfectly relevant to this moment.

With all the controversy over the recent US election, I have sought the Father for His mind and Will. This is our only solution to get in line with God. “What are You saying God?!” As a Christian this is my only hope. I am safe and secure in the Will of God not in my opinion of what should be. As I have looked to Him for an answer I heard, “Man cannot steal what God bestows.”

Can Man Steal Elections?

Can Man Steal Elections?
In light of our elections you might say, “But God, how can that be, have you seen what is happening?!” Well the Word says in Romans 13:1, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God [granted by His permission and sanction], and those which exist have been put in place by God.” This means no matter who sits in the White House come inauguration day, they are sanctioned by God. “Oooo, this is just too vulnerable!” Yes, it is wholly dependent on the King of ALL governments.

So, does this mean I lay back and just wait? No, it means we must all seek the King who is our Authority. He directs us in our behavior. Whether we stand, proclaim, petition, or assemble. I have heard for myself and am living in and under that direction. I may share with you in the days to come what I have heard, but regardless, we all have to listen in our relationship with our Savior Jesus. All life is about relationship with Christ, even a confusing election.

This is why slandering corrupt authorities is so dangerous. No matter what their position, to revile them is too revile the God who put them in place. It is far too easy to roll into scorn when our leader reject their own vows to maintain law and order. But there is a lesson that we can learn from the saints of the past. Look at David facing the evil king Saul, “Do not kill him, for who can put out his hand against the Lord’s anointed [king] and be guiltless (innocent)?” 1 Samuel 26:9 AMP This takes incredible faith and will test us to the very core.

Who is in Control of Our Election

Who is in Control of Our Election
I am not speaking about people in positions of authority to hold leaders and the process accountable. I am speaking about “we the people,” those governed in this land. God will lead us in our behavior and where our voice will have influence. And from there we trust our Lord to enact His government.

As I have pulled away from the many sources that want me to believe what they say and into the One who has the answers, my faith has risen. I left my fearful floundering and rest in Him. I have spoken out and interceded that which the Spirit wished me to pray. It has settled my heart!

No matter what happens in the days and weeks ahead, Jesus IS Lord and Ruler over all the world. As we stand in our position, led by the Spirit, we will see the rise of our King display Himself in our land. And regardless of the outcome, take a look at what is happening. While the enemy is sowing the seeds of division, WE are uniting as the Church, One Nation Under God! Could this have been His goal all along?!

Eyes on the Lord, and not upon men. This is the only way for us to live.

      • We are sunk otherwise! Bless you Don!

Ooohhh…not a very popular statement, but nevertheless TRUE!!!!

      • Guess it is all about where our hope rests, huh?! Bless ya Doug.

Is it possible that the focus is to be on the principle structures of authority an not necessarily on the persons in authority. Like the authority structure of America is a Democratic Republic of we the people choose our President. Other authority structures can be totalitarian, etc. Jesus said that all authority was given to Him and in the long run, we will all be governed by Him! Just a thoight.

      • Hey Richard, I think you are in the process of a move, but when you have settled I would love to send you and Judie a copy of my book. Just let me know when and where and I will get you covered.

TO answer your question, I think ultimately the focus is to be on the Person in Authority, not on the characters Jesus is using to exercise that Authority. Which is a hugely vulnerable spot. I believe the long run is here now, we are all governed, and He is training us, His Body, to reign and rule with Him for eternity. Does that make sense?

John, I agree with most of what you wrote here. One question—are you saying that we the Church ARE uniting as a result of this? I know I am a member of only one local church, but I see a great deal of lack of unity even among professing Followers of Jesus.

      • I don’t see the church uniting either, so much of the church is sleeping and in denial but I live in California, yuk

        • I certainly don’t see the church being who we need to be but in our panic many have joined together and sought answers. I witnessed the Gospel being preached on more fronts. I also saw more men making a firmer stand against things that have swept under the rug in the past. Abortion for one. But is this unity?

This whole thing has been a great shaking. Yet our unity can only stem from our focus on Christ and His Life not unifying under a single motive. And true unity is found in His Body not the organization.

I had someone call me from Oregon yesterday and spoke about their situation and had the thought, “maybe we should move back down south.” I said, well it isn’t like it hasn’t been found in the deep south. Georgia, where I live, behaved like the wild west.

Well Debbie, may we truly seek His face and be unified in Him as our Life and center. Thank you for your comment!

      • Hey Rick, thanks for much for your question! Also thanks for following these posts, it means a lot. To answer you, I am in no way implying that the church has been unified, or that those who profess Christianity have arrived. What I am saying is that I am witnessing a coming together, perhaps even in its infancy, but is facilitated by these current events. My question in the post is, could God’s goal behind these events be that we the church would rise? Historically the Body of Christ multiples in crisis not prosperity.

Rick, there is a transcendent church of those who the Lord calls brother’s and sister (Matthew 12:46-50). They are the one’s who live in the Will of God. Now that I say this, I wonder if the current crisis over our republic is not a threshold to bring nominal believers into sonship. There is nothing more unifying! I would say, let’s watch what the Lord is doing, I think we are about to be amazed.

Although I agree – we need to fix our eyes on God and trust Him alone – I also posit that we are placed to be the “salt” and “light” of the physical earth. Light, when applied correctly, dispels darkness. Salt preserves.

If we simply “sit back and trust God”, respecting authority, yet never calling out evil, are we fulfilling our roles on earth? I realize it’s a very fine balance and, unfortunately, we’ve observed a whole lot of arrogant mud slinging, from the body. I am, in no way, advocating for that. But, from a place of intimacy with the Father, at what level are we to call out evil? Hold even leaders accountable?

I can respect the position. But I do not believe I am to respect and/or sit quietly by while evil runs rampant.
Again, like so much, in this walk, I see there is a very careful balance with a ditch on either side. In this case, one ditch is the arrogant mud slinging while the other is passively sitting by “trusting God”. And, frankly, I think it looks differently for each of us. To me, this is the beauty of the body – we are all called to represent His glory in unique yet spirit-led ways.

I do have your book and am going through it a second time. 🙂

      • So true Karen. This is a time for us to let His Life shine through us. While we have been placed in an amazing position of complete dependance on the Lord we have also been give the unique ability to witness to His sovereign move in our country and through our lives. And I have wondered if this was the very purpose of this season in our lives. He wants to be the focus and to be able to direct the body as He wills. No better time than when we need Him desperately. Exciting times in deed. Bless you!

“In the same way, these people—who claim authority from their dreams—live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings. 9 But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.) 10 But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction. 11 What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother. Like Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.” Jude 1:8-11 NLT

The archangels were having an argument and Michael did not slander. Lord help us and forgive us! If God truly establishes all authority (Romans 13:1) through his complete sovereignty (whether the authority chooses to do good or evil!) then how many of us have been guilty of this slander? Do we honor and pray for only those we deem worthy by our human judgement? Does a particular news station determine who we will champion? Unfortunately, this is not new to America. She, in her own fury overthrew the King (George III). She discarded authority to assert her own independence by her own hand. This spirit that seeks to overthrow (impeach, discredit) that which it does not agree with is not new. To reject authority is rebellion, plain and simple. We must repent for the rebellion in the very establishment of this country. It is a pattern that continues to manifest again and again. We who are called by His name must humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways in order to see our land truly healed (2 Chron 7:14). Let us stand in the gap for our leaders past and present and for all, including ourselves, who have trusted in man to deliver us from immediate circumstances, rather than wait and depend upon the salvation of our Deliverer!

      • Thank you for your comment. We have certainly been brought to the place of complete focus and dependance on Jesus. May we allow the Lord to continue to lead us into the place of humbling ourselves, praying and seeking His face and turn from our wicked ways, so that He will hear from heaven, and will heal our land. I believe this all is a Divine set up for Him to be gloried and for the radiance of His Bride.

Yes, elections can be stolen and yet God will allow evil men to lead a nation. How many truly evil people have used corruption to achieve total power throughout history? was the American Revolution wrong because God had placed King George III and the English Parliament in authority over the American Colonies?
God’s Plan is perfect! It is difficult for man to understand how perfect it is considering that He allows all of mankind to make their own choices and still God’s plan is achieved perfectly. We must endure the consequences of, not only our choices but the choices of all the people that we are in their sphere sof influence. When we consider the billions of people in the world and the complexity of the web of consequences, it is truly mind blowing, but this is exactly what God uses to achieve His Perfect Plan.
Does God intervene and directly cause a particular event or outcome to occur? Absolutely, there are many examples in the Bible, use of angels, the lions mouths being shut when Daniel was put into the lions den, Jonah and the whale (large fish) are a few. The Book of Esther is an example of God using peoples choices and in this case saving the nation of Israel.
So what are we to do? When in doubt serve God! Do what you know what God has required of all His faithful, butt to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God? Micah 6:8
