I had a sovereign seeing the other day and I wanted to share it with you. In one of my last posts I discussed how life is not perfect, yet God continually proves to us that the world is ordered perfectly. It just doesn’t meet our demand for perfection. Well today I am going to jump into God’s perfect order of my IQ. I’m going to show how our IQ is sovereignly ordered by the Lord. Yes, our very IQ has a divine plan.
Seeing into a Sovereignly Designed Order
I was traveling the other day on an interstate for hours. I was witness to hundreds, if not thousands of semi-trucks driven by truckers. My response was that started to bless them, realizing that our economy rides on the backs of these men and women. Most of our goods, if not all of them, travel at some point via these truckers. They carry our food, clothes, electronics, medicine – the list goes on and on.
Then I started to think about these actual men and women. When I stopped to get gas, I saw how they function. Truck stops with showers and lounges to give them a bit of a breather before having to jump back in the cab of their trucks for a few more hundred miles. These guys aren’t typically the great philosophers or scientists of our civilization. They aren’t the great thinkers, because someone wired with a scientific brain would go crazy in this scenario. But here are these people who drive day and night to get the job done.
Then I realized if every one of us was a great intellect, nothing would ever get done and we all would starve. And the same is true if everyone was a worker; nothing would be done. Both are needed in the function of the whole. So, I am not disparaging any level of IQ here. On the contrary, I am going to show you God’s perfect sovereign plan in it all.
IQ An Absolute Perfect Plan
God has set things in order. He has a perfect plan and our job is to remain in gratitude and thanks, honoring Him as God over it all. Why? Because our Author knows how things have to be. To work in conjunction with one another is a perfect plan. To one He gives brawn, to another He gives brains, and in this He is able to bring forth His great Kingdom Plan. Say I have a low IQ. I am perfectly positioned and designed to fulfill my specific purpose and part in this world as I am. Not in spite of my IQ but because of it. I have a unique part to fulfill. This doesn’t make that position of lesser or greater value; it just is under the divine sovereign plan of God.
Or say I have an engineer’s brain with a detailed scientific seeing of the “how’s” to build and design things. This is set in place for my fulfillment of God’s unique plan in my life. It is not more important than the one who builds; it just is my reality in the grand scheme.
Sovereignty incorporates even our intellect and abilities. I can thank God, honoring Him as God that I am where I am, and that He is able to bring His Life through my unique design. In me, He fulfills His purpose in my world as I embrace not resist my fearfully and wonderfully made self. To kick against the goad is to resist God. To hate the reality is to extinguish my seeing of Him in my life. I was designed to play my part in the divine order of His fulfillment.
Men have different gifts, but it is the same Spirit who gives them. There are different ways of serving God, but it is the same Lord who is served. God works through different men in different ways, but it is the same God who achieves his purposes through them all. Each man is given his gift by the Spirit that he may make the most of it.
