He must increase, but I must decrease.
[He must grow more prominent;
I must grow less so.]
John 3:30 Amplified
There are all too few places where you can find the nitty-gritty of walking with God in harmony and intimacy—a living demonstration. But John and Jennifer – along with our guest bloggers – are constantly demonstrating, not teaching but LIVING out the process, in transparent reality. It’s an absolutely marvelous gift to the world in these deluded times!
Jennifer and John are giving a testimony of how to bow, tell the truth, give Christ the rule at their deepest core and above all, let Jesus talk.
To get along with GOD—
Christ MUST increase, and I must DECREASE.
‘MUST’…or there is no growing in Life.
Your board meeting can take a few seconds or months to conclude. Yes, sometimes it is years of inner war. But learning the skill of Getting Along with God is to live ever bowing to His Voice and growing in “grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18 NASB).
Your heart is what God watches, weighs and knows intimately…even when you do not. Your heart condition dictates His dealing and response to you.
Walking with God is simplest when it is just down-and-dirty honest and you know who you are inside this moment and what you feel and how you think. That is an open heart.
It’s not introspection. It is spiritual honesty, genuine responsibility and it yields peace with God and joy in life. It’s “walking in the Light as He is in the Light…” (1 John 1:8). Presenting yourself always to God’s Searchlight of the heart and letting yourself be found and adjusted.
When God wins the heart to Himself,
you enjoy His enjoyment of you.
And that is the bliss of Christ that
Jennifer and John continuously experience.
They openly offer to you the way.
By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended
as having pleased God.
Hebrews 11:5 ESV
We always think that pleasing God is ‘doing’ something good or big for Him. But Enoch just walked with God, meaning he lived always before Him, with Him, communicating and listening. Aware of Him…looking at Him. In the mundane, in troubles and in the special.
Over time, I have come to believe that this is what gives God pleasure. Being fully emotionally, mentally present to and with God. In every moment, through every situation.
God so enjoyed Enoch that He took him up in an unprecedented manner, straight to Himself.
Our God and Father is always and forever, with us!
But we are so seldom truly with Him.
I am so pleased and amazed by these two. They are just with God in every situation. Nothing is too small and nothing is hidden from their Lord. I hope you appreciate these young pioneers who open their hearts in all vulnerability!
How to Get Along With God is the only thing worth knowing and the only skill we need.
Valuable pioneers, yes! And much loved and appreciated for allowing Christ to expose the good, the bad and everything in between, for His increase and our learning. It is evident that their vision is definitely not of this world…refreshing and piercing at the same time.
“Over time, I have come to believe that this is what gives God pleasure. Being fully emotionally, mentally present to and with God. In every moment, through every situation.”
I know exactly the way you are saying this. Not as a condemnation (because we may fail at it sometimes in our wanderings), but as a sweet solution.
Yes!
Yes, I do appreciate their vulnerability. It is a sacrifice that bears fruit and costs them daily.
Dear Martha, these last two posts are some of the best descriptions of walking with God that I have ever read. I love the boardroom analogy and will share it with other seekers along the way as I have opportunity. I also love the way you brought recognition and appreciation to Jennifer and John. I have been so edified by their transparent sharing of how Jesus is living His Life through them. I thank Jesus daily for your ministry.
Irene, you are a constant joy and encouragement to us all, and such a skilled listener! For you: 11 Thess. 2:16,17 and would you pray 11 Thess 3:1 for us, as the Spirit brings us to mind??
Forgive my delay in responding, I have not had internet access for over a week and am just now catching up. What a blessing it is to receive your intercession and what a privilege to pray for all of you.
Perfectly said Martha!
Wow… I loved your Enoch-vision.
Our Dear Sam, I got such light myself – just from writing it! Thanks for seeing that part. Much love.
