Many Christians have found that they didn’t like the rough sawn nature of Trump. He was too abrasive and bombastic. His rude, course nature was just too much to swallow. But I have a reason why, THE LORD chose him to serve. Why in some people’s opinion God seemed to scoop from the bottom of the barrel. And we may not like this answer. It is ALL our fault! The church is 100% responsible. And how can this be?! Because we the church would not live and speak and stand for righteousness.
Making Cozy with the World
For a long time, the church has pandered to the world. We have not stood as a sentinel, rather we have let the values of the world infiltrate our very ranks. Our policies have become insipid and ridiculous. We allow debates and have discussion about that which is clearly against God’s Word. And we wonder why the Lord had to call a crazy Jehu to wake us up?
I am not casting any stones with this post. I see that I have not personally been what Christ’s Life has purchased. I have passed the buck, hoping others would carry the torch, which has made for deep darkness. When the church cuddles with the world and debates whether sin is acceptable no not, the Lord often sends a brash megaphone into our world to warn of our impending doom.
Before we castigate Trump for his inflammatory presentation, maybe we should look closer to home. Maybe we all should own up to the fact that God used a man to proclaim what the church wouldn’t declare. Perhaps in our goodness and piety we tried to keep peace rather than rock the boat. When you have an enemy destroying the fibers of that which Christ built, it is not time to call for a tea…it is time to fight.
Seek His Face
In my last post I spoke about seeking His face. I believe it is time for all of us to fix our gaze, seeking Jesus and listening to His Voice. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek MY face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Let’s start by asking why God had to use a man who was less that polished. One who would offend and upset our sensibilities.
I believe it is our fault and we don’t need to look wagging our heads at the color of the megaphone, but rather why a megaphone had to be used in the first place. Could it be because we were so deaf? Might it just be because we refused to proclaim from our own pulpits? Was Trump’s course verbiage and endless tweets just the kindness and mercy of God?
But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Luke 19:40 NKJV
James 4:17 says “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”
When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Proverbs 29:2
From “War and Peace”: “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”
The world is lacking a message of repentance because the church lost the message. Many in the church no longer know what shame is (Je 6:14-15).
Horrifying reality for sure. I wish you weren’t right…. Bless you Don!
Yep.
It is a yep and AMEN isn’t it! The next set of podcasts we will go deeply into this. I think you will like them a lot. They start this weekend. Love you Alex.
The Lord sent us a Cyrus and we failed to stand with him!
It grieves me badly, but it also gives me hope, because without this we wouldn’t have seen the depths of things. He did answer one of my prayers, Lord let them expose themselves totally. Bless you Richard!
Shout it out to all of us who have been silent too long! Forgive us, Lord.
It is a huge need of repentance, huh?! For sure we need His mercy and then see it as a lesson to learn from in order to come to Him closer, much closer. Thank you Penny!
Yes and amen!
Just resonated in my spirit and I had to say it.
