Jesus is Praying, What for Me?!

Print

A good friend asked me, “If Jesus is continually in intercession for me, don’t I want to know what Jesus is praying to the Father about me?” This seems like a no brainer for a child. Of course, I would want to know what is being discussed in the heavens about me! And when we have a true relationship with Jesus, we can ask that very thing. And what a mystery to be revealed.

Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the One who died, but even more, has been raised; He also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.
Romans 8:34 HCSB

What Jesus is Praying

What Jesus is Praying
When we walk through this life as a child, we have these types of questions and inquiries. Our hearts can perk with such delight. “Jesus, what are You asking the Father for me?” An adult would never have such dazzling eyes of wonder. Unfortunately, as an adult, we can have more cynicism than wonder. We could believe that Jesus is pleading that we would be good or to do it right…but this just is not the case. It can’t possibly be! The Father requires performance only of His Son’s Life, not our vain strivings. We are called to live as loved children of a great big God!

Permission to Ask

The reason I am writing this post is to fan the child-like wonder that resides in our hearts. Sometimes we need permission to ask and unless it is brought up we may not think of it. This is what my friend’s question did for me.

It is too easy to become an adult about life. But more, don’t you want to know what Christ is praying? Doesn’t it peak your interest, even a little bit? I know it absolutely makes me hungry and deeply passionate to know Him and His thoughts of me. And He wants to share these thoughts with us, because He is so filled with love for us and wants to reveal that love to us!

Every single moment You are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that You cherish me constantly in Your every thought! O God, Your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, You’re still with me.

Children know by heart, even beyond words. They believe right into wonder. We’ve talked about our gazing at Him; it melts me now to think of Him gazing at me, at my heart. A child looks to see they’re being watched with love. This is a part of prayer. I was praying for a young man and said, “Lord, give him a heart that’s fluent.” And my heart leapt inside, “Oh, i want a heart like that Lord!” Sometimes a prayer for another is His prayer for our heart also. We discover it there. And sometimes the way we see… Read more »

Jesus is specifically praying John 17:20-26. I love praying all the Biblical prayers. I love to pray the Scriptures.

For sure Cindy, praying the scriptures is hugely important as we affirm them in our life with proclamation and agreement. The cool thing about Jesus’ prayers for us is they are not generic. If He knows the number of hairs on our head, there is no way His thoughts and prayers for us are a blanket statement. I love Him for being this completely and intimately involved with me and us.

For sure, and it is so intimate with Him. It is looking to Him for His very thoughts about you. I love this so much.

I tried to think of a better way to articulate this thought but this is what I got…?

As we walk in obedience to the will of God, are we not living the prayers of Christ?

I will be pondering this for awhile and look forward to reading others comments. Thank you John for always prompting praise and prayer.

Much love

I think you may just be right! Living in His Will is certainly His living prayer for us. Love you Tammy!
